Module 3: Sustainable Business Model Canvas

For this activity, we will practice understanding a corporate sustainability business model by developing or improving a fundamental version. We will articulate an approach to addressing contemporary questions and challenges that employs sustainable practices through the creation of a sustainable business model canvas (SLO4). Please research an organization that already incorporates sustainability into its business strategy or can improve its strategy to make the business more sustainable (you can also use your organization from Module 2). For example, the organization Patagonia integrates sustainability into the core of its business practices. PatagoniaLinks to an external site. states, "We’re working toward 100% renewable energy for our globally owned and operated stores, offices, and distribution centers, but the real challenge comes from materials manufacturing, which accounts for about 85% of our emissions every year. We take responsibility for all of it and are determined to work with our partners and vendors to conserve water, remove toxins, and reduce emissions when and wherever possible" (Patagonia Annual Report, 2022, p. 2).

Your organization may already incorporate sustainability into its business strategy, or perhaps you see ways to improve its strategy to make the business model more sustainable.
