Policy Issue - Race & Education
A policy report is a document that presents information, analysis, and recommendations to policymakers, stakeholders, and the public. It is an essential tool for shaping public policy and decision-making.
You will be responsible for writing a 5-8 single-spaced page policy report on a pertinent issue impacting K-12 students in your local context.
It is strongly recommended that you select a policy issue that aligns with your practicum site’s scoop of influence and/or concerns.
Context/Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge of a specific policy topic. Once completed, the report will serve as your anchor for your policy brief and presentation assignments that are due toward the end of the course.
Requirements/Logistics
Key requirements for the Policy Report:
Factual accuracy: The report should be based on accurate and reliable data, research, and information. Multiple points of view: The report should present two or more sides of the policy issue from the viewpoint of various interest-holders. You are encouraged to use interviews, popular media mediums, or surveys to obtain interest-holder perspectives.
Clear structure: The report should be between 5-8 single-spaced pages and have a clear and logical structure that makes it easy for the reader to follow and understand.
Policy recommendations: The report should provide specific and actionable policy recommendations based on the analysis and information presented.
Evidence-based analysis: The report should use evidence-based analysis to support its recommendations and conclusions.
Language: The report should use clear and concise language accessible to a broad audience.
Engagement: The report should engage stakeholders and policymakers in the development and implementation of its recommendations.
Impact assessment: The report should include an assessment of the potential impact of its recommendations and any unintended consequences that may arise.
