Proyecto Final: El Mundo Hispanohablante
Final Project: The Spanish-Speaking World
Your final project is worth 15% of your final grade.
Step 1
Pick a Spanish-speaking country that you are interested in & sign up on the google doc link in your Blackboard folder.
No more than three people can sign up per country. This does not mean that you are a group. This is an individual project.
Step 2
Pick 5 of the following themes to explore in your project.
-
La comida (food)
-
El clima (the weather/climate)
-
La geografía (geography)
-
La música/baile (music & dance)
-
Gente famosa (famous people)
-
La política (politics)
-
La agricultura (agriculture)
-
La moneda (currency)
-
Los idiomas (languages) if this particular country has indigenous languages that are spoken in addition to Spanish
-
El arte (art)
-
La arquitectura (architecture)
-
Los días festivos (special days/holidays)
-
Otras atracciones especiales (other special attractions/features)
Step 3
Design a visual project that showcases your research. This should be entirely in Spanish, though you are welcome to put single word translations in parenthesis for difficult words. Please use the present tense and vocabulary/grammar that we covered in class this semester. Avoid using verb tenses that we have not used for full credit. Include relevant images like maps, photos, or music videos. You can use Canva, PowerPoint, or any visual tool you like. Your project should have 5 sections, one for each of the themes you researched. Aim for a creative and engaging presentation. Have fun!
Step 4
You’ll create a short video presentation (3-5 minutes) IN SPANISH and share your slides. You can use a platform like Kaltura, Screenpal, Zoom, or any other tool you prefer. PowerPoint also has a Record tool embedded within the program. Think of it as giving a virtual presentation. If you need tech support, let's schedule a meeting soon.
Important Notes
Mindtap has a helpful resource called ‘Exploraciones del mundo hispano’ that can guide you in choosing a Spanish-speaking country. Use the Spanish you’ve learned in class and feel free to consult a dictionary for individual words. Avoid using translation tools or AI. Be sure to credit your sources at the end of your project.
