Unit 7 Assignment: Worker Training Module Plan

As an occupational and/or environmental health and safety (OEHS) professional, you may be asked to analyze the need for, and then design, develop, deliver/implement, and evaluate worker training programs. This assignment is intended to help you practice developing a worker training module using a systematic and documented process.

Select one of the following worker populations (per student).

Then, select one of the following ergonomic risk factors that is applicable to the needed skill you identified in your training needs analysis and skills gap analysis:

In retail grocery stores, there may be crossover between the daily job activities of Grocery Store Clerks and Store Shelf Stockers, as workers are expected to perform both roles as needed to support store operations. Therefore, if you decide to work in a group of two students, developing a combined training module about one risk factor, and how it applies to both worker populations, would be appropriate. 

Assignment Details:  

1. Select and describe one needed skill for one selected worker population based on your training needs analysis and skills gap analysis.

2. Select one ergonomic risk factor from the list above that relates to that needed skill.

3. Use the provided Worker Training Module Plan template (attachment) to compile and organize information for the just-in-time (JIT) training module development.

   • Follow the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model as provided in the template.

4. If needed, you can use the Course Example - JIT Training Module slide deck to get started.

5. Respond to the ethical scenario in the template using at least one standard from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP; 2022) Code of Ethics to support your reasoning and then reflect on the activities performed as part of this assignment.

6. Include the following sections in your technical report:

   • Ergonomic Risk Factor

   • Training Module Design Process

   • Scenario

   • Reflection

   • Attachments

   • References

7. Develop a slide deck for your JIT worker training module with speaker notes. Individual students should develop a slide deck for a 3- to 5-minute training session (375 to 450 words in the speaker notes). Teams of two students should develop a slide deck for a 6- to 8-minute training session (750 to 900 words in the speaker notes). You do not have to record yourself giving the presentation.

8. Upload both the technical report (in .docx ) and slide deck (in .pdf). Ensure that the speaker notes are viewable when submitting the slide deck file.

Use this assignment as an opportunity to practice writing an APA-formatted reference for each resource you use to complete the technical report and design the training module. You do need to provide in-text citations for this assignment where requested. You do not need to submit this assignment as an APA-formatted paper.

Throughout this course and program, your work will be assessed for assignment-specific items and four general criteria as described below.
