Accurately identifies three nutrition diagnosis phrases from the Nutrition Diagnostic Terminology PDF file which apply to Mr. D’s current nutritional problems while on dialysis. USE:
1. NI-1.4 Inadequate energy intake
Mr. D’s current 1,800 calorie diet is likely insufficient given his significant weight loss (~13% dry weight loss), ongoing catabolic state, and dialysis needs. This diagnosis reflects the imbalance between his energy needs and intake.
2. NI-5.3 Inadequate protein-energy intake
Dialysis patients require increased protein to compensate for losses during dialysis and to prevent muscle wasting. Mr. D’s weight loss, poor nutritional intake, and metabolic stress indicate inadequate protein-energy intake.
3. NI-4.3 Excessive alcohol intake
Heavy alcohol consumption reported by dialysis nursing staff negatively impacts Mr. D’s metabolic control, compliance, and overall nutritional status.
